Spray paint, inks and glow in the dark decal

There's a distinctive definition for each country - shaped by the  politics, hopes, fears and its unique resource. Angola has its diamonds; Brunei is oil-rich. In Singapore, people, not tourism, are the resource  and the nation's main source of income. Through taxes, rising price of HDB flats, stagnant wages and more, we are a golden resource that generates value for our safe, clean but harsh country - our future is bleak and we fear the worst for our next generation. 'Ren Jing' is a direct translation that refers to man gold. It defines the situation Singaporeans are facing. Like gold, our value will never go down and the demand is always high. At the same time, it takes everything away from us and promises nothing in return.

Description
DSTRY
A celebration of destruction and deconstruction of society.
A movement initially initiated in 2011 as a form of worldwide name-marking using humans as a traditional global positioning system.
Leaving marks and names of their whereabouts. A documentary and social networking that works only within the confine understanding of vandals.
The product was made with hate for those who believes in anything that's worth destroying.

The Black Skull FED 5

Continuing on its quest to merge photography with the best in the local urban art scene, Darkroom Army launches a new collaborative camera with local underground urban street artist, Clogtwo.
Simply called the Black Skull Edition, this classic Russian Fed 5 camera comes complete with a light meter, a one-up from its relative, the Fed 5B. Drenched in a black outer skin, which also features the specially designed graphic by Clogtwo himself, the design also best represents the signature design aesthetic from the well-known street artist – that off questioning social believes with a touch religious undertones. Clogtwo has been gaining strong momentum within the local urban scene for his works, and have contributed his brand of artwork to countless projects with the latest being with American clothing label GAP, for a series of apparel to promote less usage of plastic products.

The Darkroom Army Black Skull Edition also fills a gap for the demand in an all-black Fed 5 camera within ardent fans and new enthusiasts alike, which now comes with a healthy dose of street credibility with its iconic Clogtwo design. Launching exclusively on Labour Day itself, the 100 sets only Black Skull Edition Fed 5 will be available in Darkroom Army Gallery and their online store. The Black Skull Edition Fed 5 will come with a limited edition fine art print, signed by Clogtwo himself at SGD280.00.
Peek! is located at 36 Armenian Street, #01-04, Singapore 179934.

SEVEN

A conceptual video done for Zac's wedding. That explores the difference between the ceremony of marriage and the event itself. The video is rendered in reverse but in real time. Showcasing the bands, people and celebration at an event, getting together, exchanging conversation and catching up with old friends and families. As it reaches the end, the video subtlety changes it's course, showing the significant part of the marriage, two individuals tying the knot, without reversing it's natural flow during the event, meaning, the video is edited from the moment they sign the marriage certificate to presenting the gifts to the bride, and finally kissing the husband's hand as a form of respect.

The rational behind this short film is to question the reason and purpose of an event versus the important aspect of the newly weds?

Directed and edited by Eman Raharno.
Shot by Hazrin Ismail and Wan Karasu.

DSTRY KL 2012

In February a team of writers from Singapore drop down to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to drop some "bombs" of our own. So we decided to document every aspect of our lives so that we won't be forgotten.

At the same time, we were there for Malaysia's annual graffiti competition, KULsign, which was venued at Klang river. A huge ass canal where their government gave full budget to spend on paints and walls. So here are the results for the competition:

INDIVIDUAL CATEGORY:
1st - Katun
2nd - Carpet
3rd - Slacsatu

GROUP CATEGORY:
1st - Bone and Siek

UNIQUE CATEGORY:
Ink and Clog

Thanks to Zenith Cans, ZincNiteCrew and Phobia Klik for the hospitality, experience and KULsign2012 graffiti competition.
